Survived the Torrential Rain

Well, we survived the torrential rains from Thomas and the mudslide that killed at least 20 people all in the first week since our arrival to Costa Rica.

Tonight the weather has been quite blustery. So, blustery in fact that it blew down a huge (three foot diameter trunk) tree in the backyard. The wind would gust then we would heard  banging on the roof over and over and over. My husband and I were looking at each other when then this sickening creaking sound then snap. I thought for sure we were about to be squished by a falling tree. We were very fortunate that it did not fall on the house. It fell into the gully in the backyard taking 3 smaller trees (1-1.5 foot trunks) along with it and just missing the deck. The wind is still gusting. I don't think I will be sleeping any time soon.
