This was by far the weirdest birthday Christmas experience yet.
We had a nice time on Christmas. We saw family and friends.
The twins got skateboards, so naturally we went to the skate park.
Then the drama started.
The first day out Brian, my husband, cracked some ribs. The next time out (on my birthday) my father-in-law broke ribs and cracked his head open requiring an ambulance and 10-14 stitches.
Then later that night my favorite love cat of 16 years passed away in Costa Rica while I was still in the US. That same night my aunt in Plainview, TX had 2 of her horses struck and killed by a freak lightening storm. Weird stuff.
Costa Rica is not as technologically savvy as the US in the disposal deceased beloved pets. They are antiquated and backward in their regard for animals. Basically it was up to us to bury her because cremation doesn't exist here, (not even for humans). And because we weren't there to do it immediately the task of preserving her until our return fell upon a friend who was generously visiting and checking in on the cats. He wrapped her in a blanket and put her in a garbage bag and put her in the freezer to wait until we got home to bury her. Horrifying. The entire experience was simply horrifying.
But as our luck would have it-- on our 10th day in Costa Rica a huge tree had been twisted out of the ground by a wind storm not 15 feet from the house, and it left an enormous hole. So, that is where we laid her. My poor sweet angel cat. I still can't believe she is gone. Broke my heart.
She lies in the upper left hand corner of this picture just beyond the fence. :(
